Bali is not a place to visit as a tourist

Being part of a country where death penalties are used should send a message to every tourist that this place is best to be left alone. Combine it with the fact that death penalties can be issued for other than murder is yet another signal. Combine it with the fact that even the legal process have flaws it should send a message not even to consider it for any travel purpose at all.

It is not that the so-called Bali 9 group faces executions. It is the arrest and imprisonment of two Australian women which prove that this Island is simply too dangerous for any person to visit. Schapelle Corby was arrested for smuggling drugs into Indonesia. No smuggler in the world would take drugs from where they are expensive to a place where they are cheap. The entire concept for drugs trafficking is based on profit. Her arrest and the Courts decision to destroy the evidence long before the legal process including appeals was over speak of a cover up.

Then taken into consideration that the arrest and deportation of the Australian top-model Michelle Leslie included extortion and possible political connections combined with the fact that she was forced to change faith in order to reduce the risk of sexual molestation or rape skips Bali as a tourist target entirely.

A message has been sent by the authorities in Bali: “We don’t want tourists here”

German invasion: It is a question about setting the correct price

The owners of beach houses in Blaavand - a small hamlet in the northern part of Jutland - reports of 15 to 20 damaged houses due to an old German tradition of invading Denmark in April as they have done since 1940. Of course the modern Germany doesn’t send soldiers to Denmark so they can rest like they did in the past. Today the modern German visitor is a student aged between 15 and 20, who enjoy our laws regarding soft non-dangerous alcohol with a percentage below 16.5 which can be purchased by anybody aged above 16.

Of course the large number of visitors takes its toes on the houses. Of course the presence of several hundred of foreigners put its mark on a small community. But we are not Prague. We knew what the kind of marketing we sold Denmark on would bring of customers.

So the houses will be rebuilt and if a local Mayor speaks of his community being unable to attract tourists there are many other Hamlets to choose among. Jobs are needed and the economy will benefit when larger number of tourists arrive.

As for the damages. It is only a question about setting the price so that possible damages can be covered.

Once again Danish tourists are unfairly targeted in France

Six high school students were unfairly treated by a hotel in Val d'Isère. Complaints who were not documented led to them being thrown out of the hotel where they were staying.

The travel company Nortlander was of no use and it is not recommended to use such a company. More in general purchase of good from France and travel destinations should be considered very carefully as a general dislike of Danes and our values. For the last decade Danish tourists have tried to act more like British tourists who due to size of their once so widespread empires have the experience in visiting foreign cultures.

But there are small communities which are hostile forwards tourists. It is basically xenophobia. France is slowly becoming such a place. It is not clear whether it is the raising retirement age which is the cause but it could very well be the case. The population down there has not known struggling and they have been able to retire almost a full decade before the workers in other European countries. The retirement age in all of Europe is about to be harmonized but they still miss some years before they reach the same retirement age as in Denmark where it is 67 years. It seems that every year they are pushed result in violence and strikes.

The laziness of the people in France is almost a legacy and now they are taking their frustration out against innocent tourists. It would be better to stay out of France until they have been taught to work as hard and as long as people in the rest of Europe.

The Czech republic is not ready for tourists

Some news speak of a story about 350 Danish High School students from Christianhavns Gymnasium who were kicked out of their hotel due to riots. However it isn't true. Not a single student were sent home.

The trip which were organized by the students themselves ran into some problems when the hotels they had chosen showed very little ability to deal with normal tourist behavior.

The behavior shown at the hotels is not a special phenomenon for Danish tourists. In fact The Sun had a larger piece about the problems tourist from the United Kingdom faced when they travel abroad. Some remember the culture clash which led to an arrest of a British woman and her boyfriend when they showed affection for each other at a public beach and in relationship to this story The Sun published this story explaining the problem.

The problems seems to be based on a huge difference in culture and education between the tourists and the native population. The obvious question is if there is such a big difference between a country like the Czech republic and Denmark. To this question the answer must be yes.

One of the most prominent politicians Denmark has ever produce - the former member of the European Parliament Mogens Camre spoke very clearly about how much difference there are between Danes and the population from some parts of eastern Europe. France 24 wrote on their homepage that he did hit a raw nerve in the question of expanding the European Union.

I guess what happened in Prague was that there were some kind of miscommunication between the Danish tourists and their Czech hosts. The native population were not able to understand the communication between Danes which obvious took place on a higher and refined level. They were simply not prepared to host foreign tourists.

It is a huge problem for travel agencies to find the right place to send out their guests. In this case it was a private trip arranged by the students themselves. The school did not send teachers to Prague. So maybe too little research had been done when choosing the destination.

It you look at the possible travel destination in Eastern Europe, one country are able to stand out. Bulgaria was worn down after some 50 years of communist rule. So in order to have interesting places for the tourists to see they built Sunny Beach. Today this area is the only interesting place to visit as there is nothing else to see but it is there. Bulgaria has built a model of how to attract tourists the rest of the countries in the eastern Europe could copy.

I hope that the high school students overcome their ordeal and the quite hostile environment they by mistake traveled to. While it seems hard at the moment it is a important lesson they have learned. Danes should consider things twice before choosing to either work, study or spend their holiday abroad. Not every place in the world is friendly to outsiders.
